Garlic's health benefits and medicinal properties have long been known . Garlic has long been considered a herbal "wonder drug", with a reputation in folklore for preventing everything from the common cold and flu to the Plague! It has been used extensively in herbal medicine.Raw garlic is used by some to treat the symptoms of acne and there is some evidence that it can assist in managing high cholesterol levels. It can even be effective as a natural mosquito repellent....... I was wondering does this have any basis in fact? If its a mozzie repelant would it repel fleas that carry plague too? worth a bit of study methinks. Maybe Kenneth can enlighten us a bit more? just found this... Plague be buggered!!! RE: Garlic to fight the plague??? - Skvez - 18 July 2012 From personal experience I would say that garlic 'deters' mosquitos, it also deters people; including friends and family, that might be useful too in some circumstances! It's also supposed to be relatively easy to grow and doesn't take up a whole load of room. It can even be grown indoors in a few flower pots. (Personal experience of using it to deter mosquitos, no personal experience of growing it) RE: Garlic to fight the plague??? - Hrusai - 18 July 2012 hell its everywhere wild garlic is really common, at least where i live, the streams are lined with the stuff (on the banks either side)....not to mention all the woody bits, i dont think it would really need to be specially cultivated RE: Garlic to fight the plague??? - Kenneth Eames - 24 July 2012 Many scientific studies on Garlic has established the facts already mentioned. It will be an essential in a survival situation. Do a search on the net and ask for scientific studies, as well as general useage. Do this for many other herbs, such as, Red Clover, Burdock, etc..
