DIY Dipole antenna - Lightspeed - 31 July 2012 The attached diagram shows a basic dipole antenna, and how to attach it directly to RG58/u grade coaxial cable. (Cable grade is important) The lengths indicated are for CB 27.500 Mhz Frequency. The quoted web site is a dipole length calculator that can be used to find the lengths of the dipole elements for any frequency you choose. SWR adjustment is important. ( See Paul's description thread). Adjustment is by lengthening and shortening the lengths of the two dipole elements (orange and red arms). Start off by cutting each arm a little bit too long, this will allow for shortening. Shorten each arm by the same amount, as each should be exactly the same length.
