Battery bank across wire (solar) - Nemesis - 7 August 2012

Just a tip for anyone running solar or thinking about it, below is a picture I took tonight as I am reinstalling my solar setup; I thought it might be a good idea to offer this small detail.

Always connect to your solar and other devices across the battery bank, in my case I have 3 things connected to my bank, and they all connect positive to batt one and negative to batt 4 across the bank, so it’s not like a car connect pos to batt 1 and neg to batt 1.

Of course if you have 100 batts then connect positive to batt 1 and negative to batt 100.

Red arrow all devices positive connect. (regulator, inverter, control panel)

Black arrow all negative connect.

I have 5 x 80 watt panels and the battery bank is 4 x 75ah, it is a small system to meet my needs as a hobby and in case of an event, I will not be adding to it although I have panels put away as backups, but I tend to buy a battery when they are on offer.

I happen to live next door to someone that owns a real big solar setup both on his house and shed, took a pic felt like a peeping tom.

I want to get a big setup but not grid tied like his and not here I intend moving in the next 5/6 years.
