Nuclear power station and their backups.. - Prepper1 - 11 October 2012

Fair enough they have back up power. How long before the back up power runs out??
Then what happens??
Fukushima U.K.??

Sadly Yes. They need power for the pumps to keep the water circulating until it is cool enough to be stored.

But of course we have TPTB assurance that that would never happen.

yeah right! why do you think i dont like/trust nuclear power??

When the water cooling the rod storage boils away, you get a big radioactive bonfire that renders anything downwinds totally FUBAR

And of course those south eastern based advocates of nuclear power intend its generation be done anywhere except the south east and its waste be buried in the north west as far away for the home counties as possible.

Yeah lets go nuclear its only the future health of the children in the NE/ NW/ Midlands/ WALES and SW at risk.
Gimme intermittant but clean gree energy my kids will survive.

Why aren't the backups nuclear powered too Huh
then you could have a 3rd layer of redundancy which is also nuke powered, etc etc Big Grin

Sod it.
I'm reaching the point where I really don't give a damn.
No power, no industry, no money, no light and no heating.
No pumps, no fuel, no food, no water, no anything.

On the plus side, no power = no banking = Sod the bills.

In every rain cloud there's a silver lining I suppose.

2015 is when it's all going to dim isn't it?
Why worry about things that may kill me in 3 years time when so much can kill me today.
