Your crazy! Good luck with that S13. Excellent challenge. Hats off to you. How much weight are you carrying? RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - BrixhamBadger - 11 November 2012 If you feel like strolling on down to south Devon after you are finished at your planned destination, there will be a pint of Old Rosie behind the bar in The Vigilance waiting for you. Your crazy! Just read that you haven't trained for this. I'm concerned that you're underestinating the size of this challenge. Temperatures are falling, dayligh is shortening, and higher chance of rain. What's the max distance you've treked non stop to date? You need to plan to have lights both to see with, and most omportantly to be seen by motorists. You nee d to carry plenty of cash as a get out of trouble contingency. Likewise a fully charged Mobile phone. I know from thepostings that you are very fit strength wise. This sort of chellenge isn't about pure physical strength, its about endurance and stamina. My experience is that the heavily built guys suffer badly at this sort of thing, and that rangey sinuous types fare far better ( I'm the latter) I think some of the experienced trekers on this site should contribute with advice before you go tackilng somthing as big as this. I don't want to put you off, but your declared lack of training worries me. RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - IB1 - 11 November 2012 Two questions Skythe Why are you doing it ? for the challenge ? for a charity ? Why no sleep ? RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - Scythe13 - 11 November 2012 No specific training doesn't mean I can't complete it. It just lowers the odds of me doing so. The weight I'll be carrying will be relatively light. Less than 20lbs. I'll have money incase I need a train, taxi, hotel for the night, food, etc. The reason I'm doing this, I need to go up to Nottingham for work, and I figured it's a great opportunity to challenge myself and get a good bit of time to walk. Lights....3 torches + Spare batteries (Lithium cells) Food.....LOADS of choc, MRE's, etc Waterproofs.....snow-gear Thermals.......snow-gear The reason I'm going non-stop, as a challenge. If I need to stay in a travel lodge, I will. Further to this, I'm taking my mobile phone, 2 FreeLoader Pico Chargers, and an iPod + an iPhone, plus spare headphones. My largest concern will be if I hit Birmingham at night. If I do, I'll be taking a new route around certain areas, or finding somewhere I can sleep for the night, before I set off through B'ham. RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - T-oddity - 11 November 2012 Quite an undertaking Scythe, When I was much younger and far far fitter I covered about 120miles in 4 days on good roads and in good weather with a light load, that was pretty punishing, I was partially delirious by the last day, but that may have been due to the heat of the day. RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - IB1 - 11 November 2012 All i would say is that you need to research your route properly. Most major roads dont have pavements and neither do most country roads. The last thing I want to do in the middle of the night is have to scrape bits of skythe of my bonnet, it might damage the paintwork RE: MEET ME, Next Week! - Scythe13 - 11 November 2012 (11 November 2012, 09:51)IB1 Wrote: All i would say is that you need to research your route properly.
