I would add a first aid kit. RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - NorthernRaider - 16 November 2012 Item 13 Spork a cross tween a spoon, fork and knife all in one. Item 26 Medical Kit RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - The Local Ned - 16 November 2012 Drysacks and/or compression sacks NR ? Question - and it's serious , although may come across as sounding too rambo-esque. CAM-CREAM. Yes or No ? Is your answer - situation dependent ? Bugging out into the cuds = cammed up ? Bugging out through urban = grey man mode ? Bugging out throug mixed = grey man & cammed up when it's safe to do so ? Ex-forces will be well aware of the importance of breaking up your shape , camming up to remove bright skin areas etc , but do the civvies put any importance on it at all ? Debate please. RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - NorthernRaider - 16 November 2012 (16 November 2012, 22:17)The Local Ned Wrote: Drysacks and/or compression sacks NR ? Drysack Rucksack, Compression bag for the sleeping bag cos it came with one Cam cream, no not for me personally, but if its what suits another prepper, I tend to use a facevail if concealment is needed. Greyman for 90% of situations with my DPM smock and tan cargos for the last 10%. Remember I am bugging in not out though so in theory I should already be pretty close to home WTSHTF. RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - Highlander - 16 November 2012 Certainly the location would play a part in how you would bug out, I doubt that cam cream would help in the city, but the further out into the stick you got, then the more important invisability would become. Personaly I have no plans to be bugging out anywhere, I think I am more secure in my own home,... my problems are that the wife and I both drive for a living, and if the shtf at the worse time, then we would have to bug home, and it would be [ at worse ] maybe 50 miles each.. this is where our bags come into play,..so they do not need to be anything other than minimum and as light as possible RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - T-oddity - 17 November 2012 Thanks NR, some food for thought there for me, I carry far less in my GHB, but then my normal working day rarely takes me further that 20mls from home and I can cover that distance cross country moving light and fast in less than 8 - 10 hours. I do have additional kit in the car, but thats more for if I'm stuck with the car somewhere. RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - NorthernRaider - 17 November 2012 VERY VERY good points being raised and those points MUST be reinforced, Your BOB / GHB must be tailored individually to suit, there is no " One size fits all" kit. (A) Your own specific physical needs (B) Your Geographic location © Your Tactical situation (D) The Time of year (E) The Distance you have to cover. I would like to point out in your planning chaps that though a fit young man moving at night can probably do 15 miles, if you have a family with you you may only manage as little as 2 miles a night. RE: Survival Small Bug out Bag \ GHB (v2) - Scythe13 - 17 November 2012 What's the weight of the fully loaded bag? It's a 100 litre bag, so (for me anyway) I'm not sure how it's a small BOB or a GHB. It's a good list mate. Could you be more specific about Rations please. I'd love to know some ideas on what to carry. My GHB is mostly stocked with chocolate for travel, it's a pick me up, and gives good energy when supped with caffeine (pro+), to avoid the drops. To prolong caffeine's effect in the body, I just have a regular water supply sipped and alternate caffeine and chocolate. Will be putting a block of marzipan in there too for the added calories and slow release energy! Maybe some flapjacks, tailored to me (I'm playing around with protein and peanut butter ones at the moment) and I'm trying to perfect my trail mix flapjack too. |
