Tools - Dojo97 - 20 January 2013

I have a hultafors heavy duty knife (very good strong blade, 4 inches), a cheap boot/small knife (that isn't that bad), an opinel no.10, and a 1.25 kg hatchet. I wanted a long blade, that can be used for thinning bush, and self-defence or heavy work. What kind of tool/blade do you suggest I get next? I do not want to spend much.

Thanks

I've got this

Not bad for a cheap machete.

When it came, the handle was a bit rough so I sanded it down a bit. It came pretty sharp but my dad gave it a sharpen anyway to get it razor sharp.

I've not really given it any heavy use but tested it on thin branches & it cuts them fine.

yeah like the one with black handle

RE: Tools - Dorset Lad - 22 February 2013

I have one of the army ones. I took a hacksaw to the handle though and added a cross hatched pattern for added grip with sweaty hands.

i've got 2 basic machettes, 1 i bought in a market about 8 years ago for a fiver, the newer one OH got me at the local car boot for £2!, both of them work fine, i have cleared a couple of very overgrown allotment plots with them with excellent results.
