Heard about them a little while back, but totally forgot they existed. I've never seen one in a city haha. Now that I'm living more rurally, I'll check them out some time.

Scotland is famous for its Bothies. Its a wonderful system for travelling through Scotland. It very good for a walking holiday. Try it! Great for getting you fit and ready for if a situation arises. Kenneth Eames.

there used to be a lot of secrecy behind the locations of these places and the information was only passed on by word of mouth, but with www it didnt take long for the info to be out.
theres still a few that kept secret.

They're a similar idea to the Alpine huts littered throughout, erm, the Alps. The only snag is, you have to have a Plan B if you reach one and find it's already occupied.
