Is there any point?

Evidently they're open to abuse (See NRs negative rating on Scythe and the reasons) so what's the point of having something that's abused when certain members abuse when they see fit?

RE: Ratings - NorthernRaider - 5 June 2013

One does not have to give REASONS, one can uprate or down rate ones peers as one sees fit, you can write a cookery recipe if you wanted in the Reason box, I accept the down grades I get off people and respect their right to do so. So consider that before you next start sulking.
BTW I'm downgrading you again.

I rarely rate but when I do its something I find interesting, beardys tale of getting lost in the woods, highlanders tale of finding japanese soldiers in the jungle ect. I dont see the point in rating negativly. If you dont like what soneones saying dont bother reading what theyve got to say. Also theres no point in getting personal or arguing over a forum.
