New to this site - CharlesHarris - 23 September 2013
I found this forum through the link on the Preparedness Advice Blog, where I am an occasional contributor.
I am a retired from local government, where I was an engineer in a municipal public works department near Washington, DC. I was deployed several times under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact to assist communities affected by floods, hurricanes or tornadoes. My responsibilities were in emergency protective measures, damage assessment and debris management where I served both as an incident safety officer and as logistics section chief. In a volunteer capacity I was also an instructor for Radio Amateur Radio Emergency Services, and Community Emergency Response Teams.
I hope that I may be able to contribute to the forum and learn new things by looking at shared experiences through different eyes.
