Belief's, convictions and pride. - Midnitemo - 6 October 2013

SD has spoke of this before but i'm just wondering out loud if the people who are so convinced there following the right path with there preps and appear to be supremely confident that there way is the only way are not infact commited so deeply to there ethos and in to deep with there costs/efforts to conceed they may be a little out of sync with the threats problems potentially facing us.....sort of to proud to change if you like...its easy for me personally as i'm still in the early stages and i haven't firmed up my plans yet and i haven't put loads of work in or spent loads(yet)

I've changed my plans severaltimes since I started. The basics are always required. It is the fine tuning that usually needs changing.

I think that a prepper is someone who is going to prep for as many threats as possible, I dont think there are many who are prepping for a single event or even a couple of them, but simply prepping against what ever comes our way.

For instance I dont believe that we face a threat from anything toxic, i.e. nuclear or the like, but we still have full NBC suits and gas masks,... its just a case of getting them if you can when you can and for just in case.

..... and as SD has said, we have to constantly look ahead as best we can, and adjust our prepping as we see the world developing

i'm with highlander on this, everything and anything right up to TEOTWAWKI, the only thing I haven't included is Nuclear- the country is so small that a nuclear strike would be the end of everything on this small island and just leave a barren landscape.

I personally have a strong base level of preps, e.g. food, water, purification, etc.

On top of this I'm getting some more specialist preps, e.g. sodium iodide, NBC equipment, etc. But to a much lesser extent.

I am with HL and BP on this .....yes I have a geiger counter and potasium iodide ,if poll shift or hit by a comet well that is something else , where do you stop? All we can do is the best we can with what we have......I do not believe anyone of us will just sit about waiting what ever takes place , we will do what ever it takes , thats why we are on here ,learning how to

There was a document showing 5 hits from Russian weapons would destroy this country.

Interestingly enough your bit was one of the few bits that made it. I'd be prepping for that if I was you. Living in London not so much.

I guess its general purposes prepping then, prioritise on equipment and skills that have the widest number of applications first then you can specialise when you've attained a safe all round level off preparedness(in your own opinion as i know we will all differ on where that point lies)

RE: Belief's, convictions and pride. - Skean Dhude - 8 October 2013

My advice has always been to prep generally. Specialist stuff is unique for that event and should only be spent if a) you have enough base preps or b) You are actually expecting that event to be a higher priority.

Stuff like NBC should be part of everyones preps imo. You never know and you could easily have something survivable but you didn't bother to just get the basic for that. However it is your funds and you prioritise as you wish.
