If anyone is looking for a cheap air rifle..... - Devonian - 15 May 2014

Just thought I'd share these links in case anyone is looking for a cheap/budget/spare air rifle:

Yes they are 'cheap' Chinese rifles, but the reviews on them are pretty good as can be seen on this Gunmart review:

This isn't what I'm buying, I'm going for something German and a bit better made, but I'm still tempted at £50 to get one of these to have as a spare.....

Has anyone had any experience of these rifles?

I've got a SMK XS .22 air rifle, the one that uses 2 co2 capsules, bought it for £50 at Trago Mills then put a Mil Dot Scope on it, I'm very happy with it.

Ah, I wish I could get any sort of air rifle.

Even though everything is made in China, there also prohibited here - air guns (including airsoft and paintball), replicas (including kids' BB guns), crossbows, even many types of knives are all banned.

There was news a couple weeks back a trader in a toy market who was carted off to detention for having 1,000+ "dangerous weapons" for sale, which turned out to be kids BB guns that didn't look remotely real!

I'm Aussie bred, but been living in China for over a decade.

Seems everything is made here, but the good stuff is all for export only. Most weapons are strictl banned and have heavy jail sentences for possession.

One of the world's biggest air rifle factories is located about 2 hours drive from us, and I was looking into visiting and asking for one as a sample (for a non-existent export deal), but a friend told me he had tried the same at one of the main paintball manufacturers, and promptly asked to leave the premises as they had had foreigners in there before with the same idea.

I have had friends get all sorts of other outdoor gear this way though -- a couple of guys I know are buyers for overseas firms, and just have to send an email beforehand and turn up in a suit, and the factories think they are the real thing and are happy to hand out free samples.
