Civil Contingencies Act (2004) - iaaems - 21 May 2014

Came across http://www.norfolkprepared.gov.uk the other day. Did not know it existed and, therefore, have never heard of it before. It would seem that most Counties in England may have one of these organisations up and running. Does yours?
Any useful info would be gratefully received this end.

This is the basis it's formed from.

"Membership should consist of the following organisations and agencies:

ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers)
CFOA (Chief Fire Officers Association)
health professionals/authorities - NHS
professional institutions and societies
Environment Agency
Met Office
MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency)
HSE (Health and Safety Executive)
CCS (Civil Contingencies Secretariat)
BBC
SKY
ITV
devolved governments and administrations in the UK
academic institutions
independent advisors as considered appropriate"

Surprises me that there is all this going on and all this info is out there and not much in the way of publicity to make the public aware of it.
Thanks for the links - I will endeavour to absorb some of this in due course.

I don't think Devon has anything like this, oh sure they've got the theory but nothing is actually set up.....their always crying poverty...hell, they say they haven't got enough money to fill in the potholes so how are they gonna be ready for any emergency??

I found the Norfolk one by doing a 'double - google'. First I googled "be prepared uk" and got a whole load of stuff and then I decided to go local and googled "be prepared norfolk" and that's when I found the norfolk link.
Try the same with devon and see what happens.

Very true mate.

But it's still a good idea to get to know what their plans are. Even attending a meeting or 2 if they put them on. Simple enough reason, take note of faces, find out who is doing what, and get to grips with the kinds of facilities they're looking at and things they hope to implement.

It's all info that could come in handy.

yeah, like I said, their great with the theory and the paperwork, but anything set up in bricks and mortar and actual organisation I think not.

Binnie, I trust the government, to screw up things even more in a disaster than things otherwise would be...
