Very, Very Cheap Shotguns - Steve - 24 May 2014

Possibly the cheapest place to buy a shotgun in the UK,

Here are examples from this week, double barrel 12g for £4, a couple of 12g single barrels for £10 each. ( yes, four pounds and ten pounds ).

its a strange thing but when you are in with a group of shooters you will be offered very cheap or even free gun's by people retiring from shooting or just wanting to make space in an overcrowded gun cabinet for a new purchase , I bought a very nice side by side of a guy in these circumstances for £50 and he offered me a bolt action .410 for free at the same time , I declined at the time but I should have took it in hindsight.

Paperwork has to be filled out and sent off. As long as you're allowed that size or have space on your cert, it's all good.

For a beginner to shooting, budget £75 for a used safe, £50 for certificate, and £25 for a well used 12g double barrel. Nobody bats an eye if you want more than one shotgun, so get a spare or two. This is a very cheap route into shooting sports, a local clay pigeon ground is a great place to meet people and have a fun Sunday morning. Cartridges are best bought in bulk, usually in boxes of 1000 priced from about £150.
