Soften your new boots... - mikebratcher69 - 5 January 2012

Hi there, just thought I'd pass on a snippet of info, that you may or may not already know about softening new leather boot quickly.
I just bought a pair of surplus soldier 95 boots (current issue) and as there nearly new they were a bit on the stiff side.
An old trick for softening your boots is as follows:
fill you bath to just below boot top height with warm water, put your new boots on and go for a paddle till the boot leathers sopping wet with water, let it soak into the leather. Then simply wear them all day, not taking them off.
after a few hours they'll be like mine, soft as slippers and easy on your feet.
Finish the process by using dubbin or a waterproofer to thoroughly seal the boots hand rubbing all the wax into the seams and stitching as this helps seal them.
If you dont have a bath handy just fill your boots with warm water for an half an hour or so, tip out the water and wear and seal as before.
Happy yomping!!Big Grin
