El Nino - NorthernRaider - 20 October 2015 RE: El Nino - Nix - 20 October 2015 Combine a record winter with increased energy demands on an already maxed out grid set up, add the domino effect.. RE: El Nino - bigpaul - 20 October 2015 total electricity reserves are at an all time low, at approx 1.2%, factor in a very cold winter where usage will outstrip supply and the inevitable result is blackouts. RE: El Nino - Devonian - 20 October 2015 Apparently many of the bookies have slashed the odds of heavy snow and a white Christmas this year, particularly for the north of the country, but only a 1 in 10 chance for the South. RE: El Nino - Straight Shooter - 20 October 2015 Yes it really does look bad this time, been keeping an eye on this for a while...lots of interesting stuff on YT....but as for preparing , i have four windows to renew next week and all the cottage is done. Trees to fell as soon as the leaves have fallen (ASH ) and some beech....coal is stocked, firewood a plenty, will get in some LPG bottles as back up and fill the LPG tank in the next three weeks, what,s the point of being forewarned and doing nothing ? not this boyo. RE: El Nino - NorthernRaider - 20 October 2015 This will be the first winter for a very long time I don't have a vehicle with either 4x4 drive or have a set of winter wheels and tyres so its going to be interesting !! RE: El Nino - MaryN - 20 October 2015 Great stuff! I love snow! This year we are prepped and ready for it. Masses of wood; oil tank toppers; new tyres on both 4x4s; candles stacked in the cupboard and livestock feed sorted. Bring it on! |
