very useful information there, but of course our community on here wouldn't be caught out making such a simple error-----would we?
speaking for myself I would naturally whip out my Khukri and in one smooth motion cut the top of the can off and re sheath the blade before the can lid hit the floor----whistles as walking away.

butterfly can openers are cheap as chips in Tesco's, I've got a drawer full.

TH, yes we would I stopped carrying a P38 on my keys when I started carrying a multi tool with a tin opener on my belt, Now I don't carry a multi tool but had forgot to put the P38 back on my keys.

If you don't have a can opener, all you need is a flat rock or the concrete floor.
This is how they are taught to open ammunition cans in the Russian Army.
