Massive solar storm hits earth scenario - Ali - 13 August 2016 A giant explosion on the surface of the sun has sent a massive cloud of magnetized plasma (CME) directly towards earth, there was a 30 minute notice alert to aircraft that a disruption event was imminent. A cloud of plasma rains down from above, interacting with our planet’s magnetosphere and triggering a geomagnetic storm. This generates huge electrical currents in upper atmosphere of Earth, which is transferred to power station and the electrical grids. Many power transformer windings melt and fail, whilst the many pipelines that scatter through our lands deliver the massive currents to other parts of our infrastructure. The last event this large was the Carrington event in 1859, where any primitive telegraph equipment used back then was melted and fried. However, now with just about every aspect of modern living controlled or run by electricity the effects are much more destructive. Most electronic devices are damaged beyond repair. Not only has the electricity stopped, but also the water and gas supplies. Modern cars and motor bikes no longer run, the only vehicles and equipment to survive unharmed are government disaster stocks hidden in deep bunkers. If your personal windup equipment was not in a good EMP faraday cage, then they could be toast also because the pulse was so powerfull There are no national broadcasts or announcements possible, and people are at a loss at what happened or what to do now. Many realise how bad the situation is and head by foot to get supplies from shops within walking distance, with the inevitable looting and fighting over what they need and want. The army will be deployed to enforce marshal law, but that could take several days to a week and then only in the main cities and towns. How would you cope with such an event, which is not only possible but expected by scientists sooner or later.
