Grenfell Tower Fire - CharlesHarris - 14 June 2017

Difficult at this point in time to give reasons for the rapid spread of the fire, but it does look like there was some shortchanging of safety materials used in the refurbishment of the building. They still haven't found out what caused the fire - do refrigerators "explode"? It all sounds a bit strange.

It will be a long term before the finger of guilt can be pointed at the cause of this very tragic event, they are all in my prayers.

Reading some of the related links on BBC I was shocked that propane is commonly used as refrigeration coolant over there and how many house fires are initiated by faulty household appliances. I can see this as a potential source for the fire, but the investigation must run its course.

I was up late last night and saw/herd the reports within a few minutes of the start of the fire.

I was also amazed at the rapid and complete spread of the flames. Within 10 minutes the building was completely engulfed, all around and from bottom to top.

Watching the live coverage I was astounded at the sight of people standing in the windows of burning flats talking on their cell phones, saying goodbye to loved ones. I saw several individuals jump from their flats to avoid the flames.

One reporter spoke with the manager of one of the emergency trauma centers they had established to deal with injuries. It was empty. The medic said that when that occurred either most escaped without injury or there were few survivors.

How does a concrete and steel building burn this intensely and completely?

I have read interviews with several of the fire fighters who claimed bodies impacted the ground all around them, including children landing on top of one of them, yet only 17 people have been confirmed dead at this point.

Are TPTB possibly twisting the numbers and treating these leaps and dropping children as suicides rather than fire deaths?

Any links to bodies impacting all around? My Google Fu must be weak as I can't find a reference.

The feedback seems to be that the building was safer before the upgrades although it wasn't perfect. The way it is being talked about is the SJWs who manage the tower block 'improved' its green status by installing plastic coated materials that burned replacing old style materials that didn't burn but were not green enough. Green materials that are fire resistant are more expensive so Green being the priority the fire retardation was secondary. More sacrifices to the Green God. Got to laugh.
