Can Europe survive on its own. - Sunna - 4 March 2025

Well it looking like America is wanting us ie European members of nato to look after ourselves defence wise .

I think this is bs from America it just wants us to spend more cash on arms and put plenty of it their way.
The last thing America wants is European nations banding together with out uncle sam Pulling the strings America fears a united European people knowing that it could eventually be everything the USA is now .

Personally I believe it will be good for us to stand alone with our brothers from Europe.

Any body out there...?

I think its time Europe looked out for itself, Uncle Sam cannot be there for ever, at some point it will have to pull in its horns and look after its own US people, looks like that is what Trump is doing.
I think the UK needs to put more money into our own defence and not rely on others, I dont trust the Europeans, History has shown them to be untrustworthy.

Mmmmm. 500 million Europeans wanting 300 million Merkins to save us from 100 million Russians who don't really want to fight us but won't put up with us fucking them around.

The West caused the invasion, the West kept the Ukrainians in the war they didn't want and the West still are pushing for more death. Europe, like the US, will fight to the last Ukrainian as well but won't risk it's pussified citizens against the Russians.

I think that is unfair SD, maybe the Russians had reasons for their actions but a full scale invasion cannot be allowed to go unpunished, the Ukrainians didnt have the capability to fight the might of the Russian army , if we had not helped sure Ukraine would have fallen fairly quickly but as we know Putin has ambitions to resurrect the old Soviet Union and would not have stopped with just Ukraine, he has already threatened the Balkan States.

The art of the deal ... trumpy is laughing at all of us , Canada part of usa with greenland who's he kidding.

Oh and what about Australia uncle sam leaving them on their own to face China.
Trump is a bullshitter our wimpy leaders are to gay to stand up to him .

Just wondering what china makes of this and of course Taiwan.

Now with increasing defence spending the sick ,old and low waged are going to suffer... thanks
Donald.

BP, What do you think should have happened short of an invasion. Court case? Resignations? Violence is the solution to every problems. It is just we prefer to stop short of that to have rule of law.

Look at the UK now, people are in prison for praying in their heads, journalists are being treated like terrorists and deprived human rights. Foreign governments are commenting on it. I never thought I would live to see a communist government that did this in power and then go on the world stage and talk about freedom of speech in the UK.

I personally think Trump arranged that argument with Zelenskyy so he would have an excuse to withdraw aid. Withdrawing aid is the only way to end this war quickly and there is more to be done. Trump should say that he is withdrawing from NATO as they will drag the US into WWIII. Offering Ukrain membership with Article 5 protection in the middle of a war is effectively declaring war and they are only doing that because the US will need to respond to that. My big brother will sort Putin out. We really are pathetic. Let Europe start to conscript their armies like Zelenskyy is going and watch support disappear faster than a labour politicians promise.

Trump isn'tb perfect but it seems to me he is the only one playing with a full deck.

Violence seems to be the answer to everything these days.
Labour are just short of being communists, in fact many of the old guard were Marxists in their younger days and Starmer is a dictator and thinks more of the world stage than he does of domestic matters.
I KNOW Trump arranged that argument with Zelensky as he winked at someone afterwards, the "why dont you wear a suit" was just petty.
no country is allowed to join Nato in the middle of a war so that argument dosent apply.

RE: Can Europe survive on its own. - Sunna - 8 March 2025

So my question, can Europe survive on its own .. has now in just a few days united with a giant yes .
Poland now wants 0.5 million troops
Germany is ramping up it's spending
Gb not so much but in the right direction
France already has independent nuclear missiles.

Things can only get better.

RE: Can Europe survive on its own. - bigpaul - 8 March 2025

not sure if Europe can survive but the EU never could make a decision, trying to get 27 countries to agree is just impossible,
