a teams only as good as its weakest member as they say. just pick your team carefuly.
Everyone has strong and weak points. A good team will adapt to cover up an individuals weak area and utilise the strong areas.
Teams are much stronger than individuals for that very reason.
I'm with Mike on this one, i know that groups have always reckoned to be the best way forward in a SHTF event, but a group is only as good as its weakest member, if someone, on their own, has the capabilities i think they could keep a lower profile in the weeks and months post holocaust than a medium sized group you could find there are too many arguements, a case of "too many chiefs, not enough indians!", i would rather fend for myself as a lone wolf than be part of some group that has to have endless meetings to agree on doing anything, i'm sure we all know people like that.
I'm not saying groups are bad full stop but I've had my fare share of "yeah yeah you can count on me" and when you do they're nowhere to be seen. In my case having to plan to take up the slack IF a crew member fails and having to take up their slack anyway is too much trouble.
I'd rather plan to do it all on my own and if I get help then great thats a bonus, but if I dont get help which I usually dont I'm no worse off than when I started.
I've had 30 plus years of survivalism and preping to get to the position I'm in now, and my experiences of anything more than loose cooperation have always ended up in the negative. As soon you form any size of group you get an instant cliques who end up dominating everything usually to the loss of the less rowdy or less pushy members . You get personality cults, bullies, religous nut jobs and of course the dreaded rampant socialist who wants to create a utopian rural idyl naturally with the socialist in charge.
Civilians do not make good team players they normally end up under the will of the strongest character. I go with BP and MIKE lonesome is best with help appreciated if available.
I remember a certain member of Slistuk who wanted everyone to move to a particular part of the west country and by coincidence it was the same place the members wife wanted to move to. He wnted to set up a community of skilled preppers naturally with him in the management role....................And he couldnt understand why no one wanted to play !!!!!
If TSHTF and I was away from home and I had a MSA with a prepper in the area I would ask for his assistance and if forthcoming I would put myself totally under his command until I moved on, equally if other preppers got stranded near me I would do my damndest to help and assist but i would be in charge, if they cant accept that so be it I'll refill their water tanks, give em maps and food if I can and let them go on their way.

Understatement of the year award goes to Mike, the prepping community is I honestly believe 70% armchairs, wannabes, fantastists and folks using forums as their social lives , I'm not knocking these folks cos its their lives and their choices but they do make it bloody hard to find the seriously commited survivalists and preppers amid all the noise. My much documented efforts at rendezvous is a great example of people promising all sorts and deliving or keeping none.

I'm not saying anything that anyone has said is wrong. As NR said, his experience is that preppers have let him down. That is why we are starting the Bristol meet. The least it will do is let us get to know each other.
If we do end up working as a team, that will be awesome. Everyone pulls their weight, everyone benefits. But if we don't have the meets, then we won't be able to at least try.
Everyone likes the idea of being the lone wolf. Yeah, it's cool. Don't get me wrong, the idea of dressing in all black and running along the roof tops like a ninja does seem fun. But Prepping isn't about fun. It's about surviving as best we can.
If we work in a team, our odds of survival are increased 10 fold. If we are able to reach that level of agreement, then that is awesome. If not, then we can hang out and learn from each other. As time goes on, people should be able to work together.
I think NR is right that civilians probably don't make good team members. But what I hope is that we can be more than civilians. More than sheeple. I hope we can work together as serious preppers and be something greater than the sum of the parts. We will become true survivalists!

Exactly, more power to your elbow Sir, If at least you put names to faces and perhaps build some friendships or links then its a sucess, I'm chuffed to bits you are willing to make the effort and I hope it goes well for you, equally I hope it become a regular event and grows like topsy. Working relations can only come to fruition AFTER you have got to know each other and built up trust.
