Just wondering what vehicle/method people have available at the moment (rather than your dream vehicle) for Bugging Out.
i am staying at home and bugging in but if i need one at anytime it will be legs or bike
i have a landrover as i would like to take a few things with me from the home and the family.
i also need it for my escape plans in case my plan a and b are taking
but as last resort there is burgens for everone and legs.
I have a polo...looking for a Landy when time(and money)it's right...however I'm not that concern with the polo as with the rear seat folded I have room for the jerry cans and several boxes with supplies plus the roof bars...I have to work more on the route that I'll take if things get worse...

North to a friend's farm or South to the nearest Ferry...still lots to plan...
2Daysago...

I would look more closely at your mates farm and see what you could do to secure it and make it home.Hopefully you can do so as you have no idea if a ferry would even be running and if it is you will be one of many on it. Sounds dodgy to me.
i agree opt for the farm and plan the back roads every one goes for the easy option be different.
would try and get that landy sooner tho i wouldn't fancy driving the polo you do know what the roads will be like and it may be a good idea to start joining you plans with your friends at thr farm just so they know your coming
In the event of bugging out my Bov is also my Bol in as much as it is a campervan. 12v electric lighting, gas fire/cooker/fridge/water heater, toilet etc.

It obviously requires roads to be clear enough to move but after a mile I will be on country lanes. It does make timing of any bug out critical though, leave it too late and I wont be able to move. It is also handy for bugging in if all the services are down as it fits in my back garden and you can still use all the 12v and gas bits.

After that the bov's decend down through a small van, a motorbike, pushbike, and walking. I recently picked up a garden trailer that I am modifying to be able to pull behind the pushbikes to give a bit of extra carrying capacity but that would also limit the areas I could reach on the bike.

Would love a Landrover though, but a decent one isn't in my price range.
@JD1

Are you bugging out to a location or just bugging out. It would make a difference to your plans. You may considring bugging in with a self contained van or leaving it at the bug out place and biking a few mile. It depends on many things and a mile isn't much but could make the difference all because of timing. Although if you are all geared up and ready to go you can just get in a go, they will have to pack and do so. So many variables.

In the main I am bugging out to a specific location but not generally to a building, part of the reason being that if the building is not owned by myself or someone I know there is a good chance that you might arrive to find it already occupied. Also there is the chance that the threat or problem could be coming from the direction of the BOL so a van gives me more flexibility

My best option is to bug in but knowing that is not always an available option I have made various bug out plans. The plans vary to be honest depending on what situation occurs but generally the plan is to use the van for habitation if at all possible. It is pretty much ready to go at anytime with just the addition of BOB's etc which are ready packed waiting to go. The BOL's I have scouted out are in some quite remote spots that are reachable in the van and and well hidden. I have a spot about 2 miles away that is a half way step to bugging out, it's along a forest track on a hill that would allow me to view my house and surrounding area to see how things are developing, but far enough away to already be in the country lanes and clear of traffic and people if needs be.

My other options all have different habitation elements, Plan A is the Van, Plan B is the car which has a tent permanantly stored along with other kit, Plan C for the Motorbike, D for the pushbike, and C for walking all rely on my BOB which contains a 3 x 3 Tarp

Basicly I have been trying to keep my plans as flexible as possible, sods law dictates that whatever plan you come up with something will go wrong

@JD1

Sounds like you have done all you can.
