Are you bugging out to a location or just bugging out. It would make a difference to your plans. You may considring bugging in with a self contained van or leaving it at the bug out place and biking a few mile. It depends on many things and a mile isn't much but could make the difference all because of timing. Although if you are all geared up and ready to go you can just get in a go, they will have to pack and do so. So many variables.
In the main I am bugging out to a specific location but not generally to a building, part of the reason being that if the building is not owned by myself or someone I know there is a good chance that you might arrive to find it already occupied. Also there is the chance that the threat or problem could be coming from the direction of the BOL so a van gives me more flexibility
My best option is to bug in but knowing that is not always an available option I have made various bug out plans. The plans vary to be honest depending on what situation occurs but generally the plan is to use the van for habitation if at all possible. It is pretty much ready to go at anytime with just the addition of BOB's etc which are ready packed waiting to go. The BOL's I have scouted out are in some quite remote spots that are reachable in the van and and well hidden. I have a spot about 2 miles away that is a half way step to bugging out, it's along a forest track on a hill that would allow me to view my house and surrounding area to see how things are developing, but far enough away to already be in the country lanes and clear of traffic and people if needs be.
My other options all have different habitation elements, Plan A is the Van, Plan B is the car which has a tent permanantly stored along with other kit, Plan C for the Motorbike, D for the pushbike, and C for walking all rely on my BOB which contains a 3 x 3 Tarp
Basicly I have been trying to keep my plans as flexible as possible, sods law dictates that whatever plan you come up with something will go wrong
