I totally agree BDG, I would love nothing more to live a a lot like I would post SHTF however I openly admit that I have only really been prepping the last year and am inexperienced in many areas, work gets in the way of everything, so what I would hope to gain from a meet would be to learn techniques and skills.
But yeah if need a hand drop me a PM and we can exchange numbers.
I am going to plant my first attempt at veg growing soon so that I'm not that guy with all them beans and noodles Smile
Support groups do work and they are slowly growing in popularity, but make no bones about it you must expect some disappointments before you find the right sort of people you can gell with.
Support groups sounds like I have a problem, hi and welcome to prepper anonymous Smile cheers for the advice the NR I always keep an eye out for your post cos a lot of the time there very relevant due to our close proximity
Bulletscott,

As you can see from these forums and the replies there is hope for your local community. Arrange a few one on ones, go to group meets when they are set up and eventually it will come together. It isn't a knitting circle where people come to pass the time these groups are building relationships and skills that could mean the difference between life and death and they are being very careful how they do it as you should.

Good luck and just keep at it. It'll work out.
As both Road Warrior and Myself have found to our cost many folks wanting to "team" up with us turn out to be at the very least unreliable and often a blasted liability. I for example run a mile as soon as I hear words like Commune or COOP etc The socialist mentality pervade northern society to a great depth and this in itself drives a great wedge between preppers who favour independance and self reliance against newcomers wanting to create communes.

There are good preppers up here but most of em are truly paranoid about opsec and privacy but you will find other NE preppers on tother forums like Unwanted Knitting Patterns, P2S etc who may be more welcoming and open.

You must preserve in your search but as RW will agree and BP as well 95% of your contacts will end up as wastes of your valuable time.

Scott if you PM me with a valid E mail address I'll send you a basic preppers guide to help you develop your plan.
see im totally conflicted about meeting up with other preppers. on one hand i would like to meet up with like minded people, it could be very usefull sharing ideas etc but on the other i dont like people knowing to much about me, some of my mates ive had for years dont even know where i live.
I think meeting people at RV's and events like the Wilderness Gathering are a good way of "sussing" people out, if you want to be part of a prepper group post SHTF you need to meet people BEFORE TSHTF so you can find out the ones you can work with and more importantly the ones you wish to avoid!Big Grin
Yup I agree with Paul you can learn much from simply chatting and interacting with other folks in conducive environments like the WG or outdoor shows or organised RVs, you can take your time and get to know folks over a series of rvs before deciding if you want to work closer with them.
You have a hell of an offer from BDG! I'd jump at that if I were you mate.

He's VERY intelligent, so if you do get to meet up with him, take a book and make notes of his knowledge. Also, as much as I want to push NR off a bridge, he does have some good things to say...sometimes haha. So if you can meet up with him too, that'll be of benefit.

If you're ever down the SouthWest, enjoying some flooded areas or stuck on Dartmoor, check us up.
I've found the perfect bridge ,for thatBig Grin only joking NR
