Bio: I am a 43 yr old Married chap from Sunny Dorset south Uk, that very middle county that is neither SOUTHWEST OR SOUTH EAST BUT "SOUTH" even though some websites regard it as one or the other.

I have only really been considering prepping these last several months since beginning of 2012, though to be honest not really having the budget to spend money on supplies or items. Also my wife is against it, in disbelief of the scenario of civilisation collapsing, and if it did she would not want to live in it...I must admit she does rely on medication that she would in all probability have to remain on for most of her life and may well not survive without it..scary though that thought is , my Parents and Brother would be in that same boat as would many millions, so those small percentage that would survive an international disaster two thirds of them may not survive the first 1-2 months due to no access to medication, unless they steal a huge supply for their strong hold. Even then would that be enough? So in all likely hood I would end up on my own though would try to locate my sister in law and 3 yr old Nephew to try to protect them (Not to replace my Brother in ANYWAY shape of form) In my prev job roles I have had first aid training from Red cross,RLSS,POLICE,I am not ex military, the closest I have come to that was when I was in the cadets as cadet then Instructor as a SGT , so I have used and fired several types of weapon firearms wise, so If I came across any I would have some knowledge and discipline not to hurt myself or innocent others...I have NO delusions as to the odds I would be up against . I like to think I have problem solving skills and a logic and common sense , even when it comes to admitting my mistakes. I am very patient when it comes to waiting for the right opportunity to come along, no matter how long it takes. I have as a keen photographer waited over a year for the right price on a lens. Even the right deal on a car! I suppose the most I may be able to do in the allotted time is pack some things in a bug out rucksack. and for small time disasters where society would recover within few months some basic food and water supplies ideas. But that will be the occasional extra secret shop tinned food, rice, porridge oats, other dehydrated foods. I also intend to get bug out suit consisting of tough thick durable black combat trousers, Steel or composite toe decent hike or army boot. Shin protectors, knee protectors, spinal protector(m/cycle one) forearm and upper arm pads, body armour ballistic light weight. Crash helmet, other warm protective head gear, face mask, filtered . All this would be more for the initial aftermath bug out and seeking a suitable lay low shelter far away from built up areas, so I could see or hear anyone coming . my only problem with my current personality is I am a trusting person. I know this could get me killed, though I think the other aspect of my personality that would get me in trouble would be COMPASSION , traps would likely be set for those people with compassion, a women laying doen screaming for help, as you down on one knee checking she is ok, a group surround you beat you(or worse) and take everything you have down to your underwear!! I would have to walk by , if I could. The other way to look at it is , if you stopped and helped everyone who was crying out for help..your supplies would be gone in a day or less, then you would be the one in distress. Not an easy moral dilemma is it.....I can see why some people say they would rather any initial strike of the WHATEVER to hit them directly so they would not know much about it and the lights would just go out. .
