Check the use by date, it may have a year or 2 any way, you could eat that over time while storing white rice. I break the bags down one at a time as needed to smaller weights, I just use the zip lock type sandwiches bags, same for porridge and flour, I freeze it all for at least 3 days, then bag it up, if it's shelf live is 1/2 years any way and we would go through a 5kg bag about every 3 months, I'm happy storing it that way for now, wished I lived some where I could get in to long term storage.

I just buy asdas 2kg bags of rice same as we use at home, so I just rotate mine out of storage and into use when we buy a new bag.
