RE: Perfect preppers dwelling - cryingfreeman - 14 January 2012 Maybe an underground arrangement within ones own land (assuming you live in countryside and have a few wooded acres). The thought is bugging out to the secret shelter in the trees should you feel the main residence is too high profile during grid-down. I've often thought of doing it without planning permission, i.e., discreetly excavating a rectangular pit, lining the hole with concrete and a DPC course and then stashing a mobile home inside it (for speed and relatively ready-made comfort). The roof and ventilation would need to be particularly well thought-out though. RE: Perfect preppers dwelling - Skean Dhude - 14 January 2012 Good plan, only thing I would add is that you could make a roof over it with brambles on and it would easily be overlooked. Brambles grow quick. RE: Perfect preppers dwelling - Scythe13 - 15 January 2012 Self-suffiency is what I'm best at. It's an easy call. EARTHSHIP!!!! No doubt about it. If I had money left over, build a geodesic dome for extra farming capabilities. |
