yep, usually the larger ones, the smaller ones are almost disposable which is which is why I use them and they are easier to move around.

IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE A WAR.

Over the last few years demand for electricity has decreased, the need for industry has reduced due to the decline in manufacturing.

At the same time electricity generation has been allowed to fall, and with the closure of all coal power stations and some gas and oil stations, new nuclear stations delayed, wind and solar just a small amount and unpredictable.......Things are very close.

National grid has to buy £250million electricity from the continent each month.

On the 8th October we were close to a full shutdown of the national grid due to the North Sea Link inter-connector tripping out.

After a full shutdown you have do a “Black Start” bringing power stations on line slowly to avoid destroying switch gear, they think renewable energy “might” be sufficient to make the startup.

They do not know how long a full startup would take, two days, two weeks, more ?.

Meanwhile after two hours no mobile phones, landlines would last four or five days if you have one to contact family.

Trains, trams, airports instantly stop. Petrol stations won’t work, if your driving traffic lights are out.

Supermarkets will have no tills so will shut, they could not restock anyway.

At home no lights, no central heating, taps run dry, can’t flush the toilet, no television to give information, if you have a battery radio BBC will give some emergency information.

How long before the riots start and the looters are out ?.

So what do you need to do ?.

Just a quick one to cheer you all up.

From the Times 22nd October 2024

America is spending A$3.5 billion on expanding RAAF Tindal in the Australian outback, runways extended to take B52 long range bombers, aprons to park six, bunkers with 14 million litres jet fuel, underground power systems, computers, dormitories with hundreds of beds.
The base will also house 72 F-35A stealth fighters.

All in case of war with China as the bases in Guam and Okinawa are within range of chinese missiles.

I would have thought the posts “It doesn’t have to be a war” and “Just a quick one to cheer you all up“
would have brought some response, obviously everyone is far too busy....hopefully prepping.....joke.

First one......they’ll never let it happen.

Second........nothing to do with us.

Question......why do I bother.

I dont agree the demand for electricity has decreased, with the push for electric cars it has increased.
checking back my notes, in 2017 EDF wanted to build 4 nuclear reactors, only one was ever started-Hinckley Point- and this still isnt completed.
living without electric dosent bother me, in fact I look forward to it, but not many in the 21st century can do it.

The purpose of the two posts was to show how fragile our so called civilisation is.

The electricity generation near total shutdown is a fact and documented.

If Putin is allowed to win in Ukraine, Xi will go for Taiwan, and that war we WILL be dragged into.

But why worry just bury you head in the sand.

RE: What have done towards your prep? - bigpaul - 29 October 2024

not many people realise how fragile civilisation, thats why so few people in the UK are preppers.

RE: What have done towards your prep? - Skean Dhude - 29 October 2024

Pete, Too little too late. I can't see it getting built. It takes time to build these bases and by then the US will have other problems to worry about.
