From aerial photos work is well on the way, Xi wants to be ready for Taiwan in 2027, so the US are not wasting any time.

We are where we want to be with our preps at this time of year, and with the way the utility room is set up
we should cope well with any winter weather bomb or electricity outage etc so we’re just weather watching
and keeping warm and dry.

RE: What have done towards your prep? - Pete Grey - 23 November 2024

JUST A LITTLE REMINDER.

Just a little reminder that the UK imports half our food, more than half our gas and
some of our electricity, and our businesses rely on undersea internet cables. All very
vulnerable to attack or sabotage.

And now Putin is pissed of with us because of Ukraine using Storm Shadow missiles.....
so his use of a new ICBM is a warning to all who aid Ukraine.....

So all you newbies are you making any preps for bad times or are sitting on your arses
and waving your hands in the air ?.

The list of needs is below......neglect at your peril.

according to the NFU Britain is 60% self sufficient in food, of the other 40% half comes from the EU-probably in the form of fruit and veg from Portugal, Spain and France, the other 20% comes from the rest of the world.
according to the same NFU if we could no longer import food we would run out of all commercial food stocks by the second week of August.

RE: What have done towards your prep? - Pete Grey - 24 November 2024

I always thought we grew between 40 & 50%, of our food. At the end of WW2 with
every scrap of land being used we could still only grow 70%.

Unfortunately 65% of our agricultural land is unsuitable for growing crops which doesn’t help.

However we still have to import a vast amount of food and if TSHTF do you honestly
think the EU would sell us food they need themselves ?, or anything else in a crisis.

Then what about gas and electricity pipelines and cables ?, what about the vulnerability
of shipping ?, food from all over, we buy LPG from the US and did you know we buy
coal from Columbia ?, it’s unbelievable.

With any new deterioration of our security not just as the threat of any enemy action
(cyber, sabotage or an attack), coronal mass ejection or EMP, storm or flood,
power outage, pandemic, industrial action, loss of job, bank collapse etc we should
evaluate our preps and increase/update accordingly.

Where I live the land isnt suitable for crops, the underlying strata is solid ball clay, at one time they made bricks nearby, the land here is only suitable for grazing Cows, Sheep and Pigs. also "pony paddocks".
if we had no access to imports that would also mean no imports of oil, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals, monocropping which uses copious amounts of these chemicals would not be possible so the amount of food that could be grown would drop considerably.

Regarding the growing of crops , our weather is changing floods are now common and boiling hot summers are also not uncommon.

We will need to think about crops that can thrive in these conditions.
