RE: What have done towards your prep? - BeardyMan - 22 May 2013 (22 May 2013, 11:51)Metroyeti Wrote: Beardy that bike looks amazing, but on the pricey side. Just think of how many other things you could buy if you get a cheaper bike Aye. That bike costs 1.5 times what the car I have at the moment did! I don't think I could spend that amount to be honest. You could get a Specialised 29er for that, and still have some change. RE: What have done towards your prep? - Scythe13 - 22 May 2013 More gardening stuff getting sorted out. RE: What have done towards your prep? - BeardyMan - 22 May 2013 Spent the evenings this week carving spoons (in between packing the whole house up in prep for the move on Friday). My axe is sharp, very sharp. So sharp in fact that it sliced straight through my trousers and into my thigh. It's a GFB Small Forest Axe from Woodlore. It really is a thing of beauty. Perfectly weighted, a real pleasure to use. Now I need to convince myself that I don't need the Woodlore Folding Buck Saw or the Gransfors Ray Mears Wilderness Axe. Or convince the missus that they were on special offer and I got them both cheap ![]() RE: What have done towards your prep? - River Song - 22 May 2013 Gransfors makes some very nice kit. @BM - never ever lie to the missus. You really will regret it. Three hail mary's you naughty boy RE: What have done towards your prep? - BeardyMan - 22 May 2013 (22 May 2013, 12:52)River Song Wrote: @BM - never ever lie to the missus. No point earning the money if you can' enjoy it. Just means I'll have to give her the same for handbags or shoes or something. Although she did come home last week with a £170 haircut, so I should be allowed a little extravagance every now and then. RE: What have done towards your prep? - Mooski88 - 22 May 2013 Today I have sat down and made plans and a list of equipment I will need when the SHTF. I have decided too make several plans. 1 - bug out - made myself a bug out bag and planning on hiding items in my local woods just in case. 2 - bug in - I am reinforcing and soundproof my attic and wash house to hold enough water and food for me and 5 people and enough personal protection to stay safe here in the comfort of our home. 3 - plan three is kinda of an extension on two. After STHF I will go out on to my estate (400) homes. And get people to help me secure our estate. There is only one way by car and two ways on foot to get here so I see great protectional here. We even have a very large field that we could turn into a massive vegetable field and for chickens and rabbits as they reproduce quickly. I would love an advice anyone has towards these ends. RE: What have done towards your prep? - Franc - 22 May 2013 This is what the bike looks like in the real world. one good reason for scouting areas on the bike, its an easy way climb over walls or gates, to see whats on the other side. Argos has a few folding cycles, but that one was probably the best, got gears, and full sized wheels and frame, so much easyer to get parts for it. http://bayimg.com/CAMJkAaeN and if im carefull, i should be able to peel off the grey stickers, and turn it into a semi-stealthy bike RE: What have done towards your prep? - bigpaul - 22 May 2013 (22 May 2013, 14:08)Mooski88 Wrote: After STHF I will go out on to my estate (400) homes. In my entire area we have a population of 16k that is alot of people but my town is set up on estates. And I like the idea of turning each estate into small 'towns' each one helping the next one etc. I can see with help and work my town could quite easily feed its self. As long as people can see the long term benefits. (Yes I know people are idiots; but I will trust people until they screw me over) RE: What have done towards your prep? - bigpaul - 22 May 2013 (22 May 2013, 15:05)Mooski88 Wrote: In my entire area we have a population of 16k that is alot of people but my town is set up on estates. As long as people can see the long term benefits. (Yes I know people are idiots; but I will trust people until they screw me over) my town/parish only has a population of 1,306, the area is split in two by the river and the road, we have the town and shops on one side and my estate (population about 500) on the other side of the river, one road way in(same road out again-no through traffic and no buses), and 2 pedestrian paths, easily blockable in an emergency. |
