RE: Knives - Northumbriman - 16 December 2012

I have made all my current knives myself. I have a bushcrafter, suvival knife and machette all made to my own design and to suit my own needs. I got into making them as I couldn't afford the crazy prices of the handmade high carbon steel knives out there. I will be making some more in the near future and would be happy to put up some pics and maybe sell some if anyone is interested.

RE: Knives - Highlander - 16 December 2012

I was given this knife by my father in law before he died, it was purchased in Spain, I have no idea of its name.

Its a heavy handled knife, made of black metal and brass, The blade is7 inches long x 1 1/2 inches at its widest

It is a leather scabbard, and the knife can be `locked` into the scabbard by nifty leatherwork, pulled tied

There are three engraved images, on the side you dont see a pic of an Indian shooting a bow at a Bison

Sorry this one is blurred

The writing is hard to read, but the top bit I am fairly sure says `Store tree of the tribe`,... there is a coat of arms underneath that, but the printing cant be read

I cant get any pictures to compress to the rerquired format does anyone know how to do it please?

RE: Knives - Skean Dhude - 18 December 2012

You need a third party utility to do it. That is the problem with modern digital cameras. Each pic is lots of Mbs.

RE: Knives - Highlander - 18 December 2012

Make yourself an account with photobucket,.. photos are sized correctly for you

RE: Knives - Northumbriman - 19 December 2012

Thanks will try that. In the meantime my avatar is a pic of the survival knife I made.

RE: Knives - Bonnox - 20 August 2013

I have several knives for different things but my surprising find is a technisub Diablo scuba diving knife, came with a leg sheath, it has a nice large chromed end which is heavy and can be used as a hammer, I have put nails in with it several times, full tang obviously rust resistant, one side is serrated and does ok at sawing, plus its a lot cheaper than a specialist designed knife such as bear grylls knives, about half the price I think, worth a look

If there is something particular you want I make knives in an amateur way. I have a Facebook page with pictures of the knives I made so far. I can make pretty much anything from small bushcrafters to full on machette's.

RE: Knives - Waylander - 24 August 2013

I have quite a collection of knives.

The one I tend to use the most is a Mora Hunter.

Cheap as chips, but gets the job done.
