Good input. Just a quick note, I'm not posting about this because I can't afford thermals. It's just an interesting skill that might come in handy if someone is caught unawares.

Funny how you prepare for a bow drill to start a fire so that if it came down to it you could but you don't make the same assumption about thermals.

This could be handy for people who are robbed and their thermals stolen or who don't anticipate being out in the cold but the house burns down or ....

All information is useful. It may never be of use to you but could save your life if that situation changed.
