French Travel, Cops being twats

So France is in turmoil with their lefties striking and blockading fuel supplies which is causing misery for British and French motorists, but the problem is now being compounded.

Many Brits are carrying multiple extra jerry cans of fuel to see them to their destinations, but in many parts of France its ILLEGAL to carry extra fuel according to the radio. Thus the French cops are apparently specifically targeting Brits to see if they are carrying fuel and fining them if they have.

Fines for carrying extra fuel is a smart move from TPTB to stop panic hoarding.

In typical French style, targeting the English is also a smart move as Monsieur Pierre le Gendarme can show his bosses that he's been actively applying the rules, while at the same not pissing off his extra-fuel-carrying neighbours from his village.

I guess that if Pierre is really crafty, he'll get to issue fines, collect cash, and possibly confiscate fuel and jerry cans for his own use as well.

Personally, I will be travelling in France, and I will be carrying extra fuel....lots of extra fuel. The fear of a fine and a run in with a French cop ( always fun) will not deter me from making sure that I can complete my journey.

BTW my extra fuel is always carried in military grade 20L Jerry cans. These things are ultra robust, I guess even safer than my ca's plastic fuel tank anyway.
