this is no surprise at all, and yet more reason why you should never build a nuclear reactor near a fault line or somewhere prone to natural disasters

Nuclear (Uranium fission) power is fine, if you don't think about the radioactive waste and the problems with storing it safely for thousands of years.
If you do include those concerns it's the most imprudent form of power generation known to mankind. Nuclear Fusion sure, if we ever get it working efficiently. I'm even open to considering a Thorium fission reactor but no more Uranium! (Uranium waste remains dangerously radioactive for longer than recorded human civilisation … just think about that for a minute, or ten thousand years)
