Its odd to see decent comments on the dailymail.
A few years ago when rice went up in price it almost doubled in price, this time it will probably be more expensive

After the last 18 months weather events globally just think yerself lucky there is anything to buy, you are going to see some BIG price rises of basic food stuffs this year and possible shortages as well. In the UK alone according to BBC Countryfile last night dozens of small farmer are going bust, more are stuggling to feed their herds and stock and face having to slaughter them. Others reported in earlier episides that many farmers have not planted anything over the winter and are also NOT going to plant this spring. Add to the various droughts and blights globally I think we are going to get quite a shock in the coming months.

Well if you believe the tales that they are after a world population reduction whats better than starvation...
After all its not their fault the weathers bad (haarp)...

They get their result and we pay the price.

I'm glad I got the practice in at my allotments planting and such.

Stock up on seeds folks and learn how to plant then now before the situations desperate its not as easy as you might think, what with pests and diseases, slugs for example love the wet weather we've been having and love your lovely tender crops...

Find places to plant stuff that's secure from prying eyes, (and slugs) after all you don't want to go to all the trouble of growing something for it to be pinched.

I'm going to be doing a lot of container gardening. last year was my first real attempt at food gardening ... but I'm not going to let the utter failure get me down. I'm putting even more in this year.

about the only thing not I haven't seen shoot up in price is legumes, so we'll be eating more beans and less meat this year too

I managed to raise some cherry tomatoes, 4 tiny swedes and 1 poxy little butternut squash last year, and loads of peppers !!! it was a disaster last year.

do you grow the butternut squashes in a container? I thought they needed huge amounts of space
