Hard Life: Nick Smith Prequel (Nick Smith Series Book 6)
by Stephen Birch
Nick Smith is 24 years old and he has been in the army since he left school at the age of 16. Facing another long stretch in the Military Detention Centre for fighting, he is given the option to try out for Selection to join the SAS instead. This is the story of his turbulent life up to the beginning of book one in the series. He faces hardship and adversity with a brave heart and a strong will to overcome the forces set against him.
Resolution: Nick Smith Book Five (Nick Smith Series 5)
by Stephen Birch
The concluding book in the Nick Smith series.
Simon tortured and killed Bill. Now Klaus has killed Jeff. Nick wants revenge, but he also believes that there must be a better way for everyone to live. Klaus now controls the remnants of the British army in the south. He ruthlessly controls the south of England. The remaining people hide and struggle to survive. Nick has decided that it is time to end the oppression. He will remove the oppressor and achieve his revenge at the same time. He sets out to hunt Klaus down. Unlike Simon though, Klaus is careful and patient. He also has his own plans. Reeves farm is attacked. More of Nick’s friends are hurt and hostages are taken. The situation becomes very complicated and very uncertain for everyone as Klaus begins to unravel under the pressure.
Judgements: Nick Smith Book four (Nick Smith series 4)
by Stephen Birch
Two years have gone by since Nick and Beth met at the motorway services on the M3. They are living the good life and a lot has changed for both them and the country. With Simon gone, Klaus has his own plans and so does Liz. There is fighting between the north and the south. A crime family now runs Exeter which leads to conflict between brother and brother. Nobody really knows who they can trust anymore and the good will get hurt along with the bad. This is a tale of plotting and intrigue, of kidnap and murder, with plenty of action. Nick is once more forced to act to save the innocent, and he now has so much more to lose.
Retribution: Nick Smith Book three (Nick Smith Series 3)
by Stephen Birch
In this third book Nick will face all of his demons whilst recovering from his discovery at Badger farm. He must face terrible odds, beatings and imprisonment but he will also find new friends and an unlikely ally. During Nick's ordeals Captain Steve Saunders and Sergeant Scott Price rescue Beth and the others from the increasingly psychopathic Simon. They will also face their own dangers and hardships along the way.
Bad blood: Nick Smith book two (Nick Smith Series 2)
by Stephen Birch
This is a recently revised addition of Book two in the Nick Smith series in which Nick and his friends leave Bournemouth and start traveling towards Cornwall. They continue on their quest to find a safe place to live. Their hopes and their spirits are high in the warm summer sunshine, but all to soon they are once again faced with the reality of their situation. Nick has to fight again to save the innocent and due to a unusual set of circumstances this brings him to the attention of Simon Daniels. Simon is an ex SAS, ex Terrorist Psychopath. He is using the opportunity that the virus has created to build himself an army and an empire. Meanwhile Nick is fighting his own demons and attempting to settle down and live a peaceful life. Simon and Nick have met before though and Nick's past comes back to haunt him with disastrous consequences.
New World: Nick Smith Book one (Nick Smith Series 1)
by Stephen Birch
This is a recently revised edition of Book one in the Nick Smith series in which a Flu pandemic has wiped out 99% of the worlds population. In the UK there is no government now. There is no army or police force left. The power is off. The survivors are left to fight over the remaining supplies of food and water. For four years before the pandemic Nick Smith has been living off the land. Moving around the country and avoiding all contact with other people. After the pandemic he saves a young boy called Dan from a vicious gang and his life is turned upside down. Nick and the young boy meet up with Beth and her two daughters Kay and Sammy at an abandoned motorway service station and he is drawn further into a situation that he has been avoiding for years, getting close to anyone. Beth and her daughters have had to leave the safety of their house and they are heading to Bournemouth. They are looking for something that no longer exists, a safe place to live in this New World.
My Comments.
I enjoyed this series even though the prequel was the last one issued. It is something that any ex-military may like and comment on.
SNOW! (SNOW! Trilogy Book 1)
by Ryan Clifford
Every year in the United Kingdom, around November through to February, snowfall will arrive. Usually, it is fairly localised and moderate. Nevertheless, every year when this sprinkling falls, all and sundry are taken by complete surprise and general chaos ensues. Transport links and infrastructure come under severe strain, even though the snow often quickly disappears within a few days. The BAA is on record as stating that they are overwhelmed by as little as six centimetres of snow lying at one of their airports.
So, just what would happen, if, one winter, the snow didn’t disappear, but kept falling - relentlessly - for more than just a few days?
This is one account of what the consequences might be.
Andrew Brady, a cold weather survival expert and RAF officer, is caught up in a fight for his life against the elements as the UK freezes and dies. He adopts Jane Kelly, a journalist and Chris Davies, a twelve year old whose mother has already succumbed to the cold. The story maps their struggle to escape from the UK by land and sea. It also maps the fates of everyday victims of the snow.
Will they survive? Would anyone?
An apocalypse threatens human kind. A highly infectious, lethal, genetic, virus is detected that attacks mankind and mammals. The Government must act, and whilst the authorities struggle to find a cure, they have to plan for the worst. As the disease spreads it is not clear how many will, or will not, survive, nor what the survivors will have to do to live. They will have to cope with their grief and loneliness before they can attempt to rebuild society. They will need to find water, food, shelter, and power and then face the other threats to their survival. If they survive, there may be hope for human kind. If they survive…
This is not horror genre and there are no zombies, and no asteroids, so if you prefer these types of post-apocalyptic scenarios, look elsewhere. This is a story about surviving.
WARNING: This book contains violence, death and some sexual scenes that some readers may find disturbing.
THAW!: a sequel to SNOW! (SNOW TRILOGY Book 2
by Ryan Clifford
Imagine what would happen if it started to snow in the United Kingdom one winter and didn’t stop for three weeks. Three weeks!
Imagine if the blizzard continued unabated until the snow lay over thirty feet deep.
Imagine how the population of the UK would cope. Would they? Did they?
SNOW! Introduced a series of characters attempting to win out against the freezing and debilitating conditions. Many failed but a few hardy souls battled through the appalling weather to become survivors.
Andrew Brady returns to the UK to rescue his long lost daughter trapped beneath the snow. THAW! traces the continuing struggles of other SNOW! characters and their journeys to true survival…or perhaps not.
THAW! also introduces new heroes such as Sir Ian James, Ross Bryant and Ann Fletcher who co-ordinate the battle for recovery in a country on its knees.
Ask yourself: could this scenario really come to pass?
Could it?
FLOOD! (SNOW! Book 3)
by Ryan Clifford
It began to snow in the UK on the 15th of December.
The blizzard raged non-stop for three weeks.
The carnage that followed was of apocalyptic proportions. Millions died and the country ground to a standstill within days.
SNOW! traced the adventures of Andrew Brady as he escaped the disaster and crossed the Channel into Europe.
THAW! saw him return to London with Ross Bryant to rescue Chloe, the daughter of Dame Ann Fletcher, the scheming, devious and morally corrupt deputy Prime Minister.
FLOOD! examines the Machiavellian conspiracy masterminded by Ann Fletcher to extract the British Gold from under the water flooding the vaults of the Bank of England; using the recovery and resettlement of surviving UK citizens spread throughout the world as a cover.
How will she achieve her unscrupulous and treacherous aims? How many innocent victims will fall prey to her innate evil and traitorous intrigue?
Will Dame Ann succeed or will her gathering adversaries finally frustrate her megalomania?
FLOOD! is the third of the SNOW! series.
The PLAGUE! is yet to come……..
My Comments.
This series is not yet finished and Flood is not due out until early next year but interesting.
Ten Years Since The Revolution - A Contemporary Political Thriller
by PM CROWLEY
Political thriller about a revolution which takes place in Britain in the near future. Ten Years Since The Revolution is considered to be one of the most controversial novels ever written.
What are the chances of a new Nazi government in Europe? After a violent, bloody revolution Britain finds out when the British Independence Party seize control.
Britain rejects the euro in a referendum. Germany and France insist Britain must adopt the euro anyway. The British government capitulates to the French and German request. Britain explodes in riots. With death and mayhem stalking the streets, German and French troops are sent to assist in policing Britain. The British armed forces engage in a civil war against our European neighbours. After a brief period of bloody fighting, the new revolutionary government is founded. Britain will never be the same again.
An ultra right-wing nationalistic party, the BIP takes office. Led by Field Marshal Bullit, Britain adopts the same policies as Nazi Germany in a one-party dictatorship.
As a warning! This book does contain violence, scenes of genocide and mass murder. People who are easily shocked should not read this work.
Ten Years Since The Revolution contains one simple message: Fascism is evil. This book is a candid view of the revolutionary behaviour, and is therefore, not politically correct. Please remember before passing judgement; a fascist story can only be told accurately, if the characters act in a fascist manner, warts and all.
My Comments.
Is this what could happen to the UK after the next general election next year.

Would the government really think about those who may survive and try to help the survivors after the die-off.
