Amen to that when I worked for an energy company that was building wind farms we suspended the environmental upgrade payments to a farmer because the way he decimated the hedgerows we planted as part of the greening up of the land after we built the wind farm.. He just attached this huge rotary cutter to his jcb and shredded the hedges down to stumps and he even did it in the spring when wildlife was breeding.

no, we have generations of birds who are too lazy and go on bird tables to get fed sunflower hearts not look for worms themselves, and the gulls are all too busy on landfill tips!!

We required the hedges to not be cut to less than 1.5 meters high and 1.2 meters wide and NOT during the nesting season, that idiot almost completely defoliated the hedgerow and he did it with a device that was so blunt it ripped rather than cut the hedgerow.

hedge trimming is done with a TRACTOR not a JCB, as are most jobs on a farm.

Not everywhere Paul, there is a world outside Devon y'know we have hedge cutters mounted on Landrover pickups to go down cycle paths, we have JCB mounted cutters, Farmers contracted to the council do use tractors as well, The council has them mounted on Unimogs up the dales, In Weardale there's one mounted on a railway flat car and their is one own by some river authority mounted on a floating pontoon.
