Read the link. The import of certain foodstuffs is banned because of the possibility of introducing pathogens into our farming industry (see 2001 FMD outbreak). It has nothing whatever to do with prepping. You CAN buy items not on the banned list from overseas if you so choose. Tinfoil hats not required.

Yes it's blardy annoying you can't get certain foodstuffs. For goodness sake, get creative! Dehydrate at home and store in mylar or Kilner jars. Can fruit, veg and meat and butter yourself. Make up your own dry mixes of soups, cakes, bread, and milk puddings (see Bexar preppers' youtube videos). It's not rocket science and you know what has gone into them. Some things you just have to accept we either can't get or will have to pay for.
As regards some items, well instead of moaning about the lack thereof, maybe make up a company and make a group order. Everything you need can be bought wholesale, from powdered egg, cheese and mixes to freeze dried veg. You just have to be prepared to stick your nose above the parapet.
