Yes indeed they did - frustrating isn't it?
But you are not obliged to help out in their hour of need as they were not obliged to take you on holiday etc with them.
The Government may be obliged to help out - to a degree - but if too many jump on the bandwagon they could move the goalposts as I suspect they will. If there is no Government, of course, no one will be obliged to help any one. Life is a competitive sport!
