RE: "NHS could get WORSE from 2013"
I can see a point in my life time where they scrap the NHS and those of us who can afford it will have to go private.
If this happens i wonder if they'll give me my money back? I've paid into the system for over 30 years and I've only used it once.
Imagine how rapidly the population would decline without free health care in this country?
Respect existence or expect resistance!

RE: "NHS could get WORSE from 2013"
The NHS is its own worst enemy, instead of sticking to treating the British tax paying sick and injured and those who can be restored to a decent quality of live they have wasted billions

Free breast enlargements for " vulnerable" teens
Gender reassignments for erm...... Whatever they are
Free needles, syringes and methadone for drugies
Fertililty treatment
Tattoo removal
Millions wasted letting health tourists fly in and get treatment before buggering off without paying
Wasting millions treating illegal immigrants and asylum seekers with HIV
Spending hundreds of millions on adapting homes for disabled people.

ANY system and I mean ANY system health, cooperative, welfare etc should never allow people to take out more than they pay in.

I would love to see the NHS scrapped along with most of the welfare system, I have yet to hear one persuasive argument why 40% of my pay should go on income tax, 14% on NI and thousands on Council tax to subsidise others opr to pay for service I dont or wont ever use.

NHS money should only be used to treat Brits who have paid into the system. Every penny taken from me in tax is food taken from my childrens mouths.
( from Mrs NR EN, RGN, RSCN, Dip, PHD) For example did you know that under the last Labour government until they were humiliated by public protest our wonderful socialists gave FREE needles and syringes to untermensch who self abused their bodies with heroin and other IV drugs. BUT children with type one diabetes were forced to PAY for their needles and syringes and were denied the wonderful life altering Insulin pump systems. That typifies the NHS and welfare system, it goes money and help to those who should not get it, and denies it to those who need it.

Scrap the fucking system and make the chattering classes learn about personal responsibility.
Did you know that it costs over £1000 A DAY in some cases to keep people in a permenant vegative state cared for connected to pumps, trachys, round the clock nurses for decades, How is that fair use of limited NHS resources. If they were spending that on rsearching how to fight kids cancers, spina bifida, MS, etc no one would bat an eyelid, but there are many patients living for decades and costing millions to keep who will never get better. So long as Medics and society are unwilling to accept there must be a cut off point the NHS will continue to collapse.

I agree, I dont believe in free medical care, I do believe in free A & E care and provision, but the rest you should have insurance for.

I work for the NHS (Strategic Health Authority) - the country would be much better off just offering emergency treatment and treatment for long term conditions only. Anything else then you need insurance, or pay for it from your own pocket. This alone would save billions.

Was working in the states until the muslim president thought it'd be a good idea to change it...

Shame about those who can't afford medical insurance though.
Still you have to draw the line somewhere. After all it is money we're talking about isn't it not peoples health?

I filled out an online questionnaire for private medical insurance a while ago.
£66 per month. (citing previous medical conditions for the reasons) and £56 per month for the Mrs.
£122 a month, £1464 a year.

Some might consider that cheap. Some in the real world wouldn't be able to afford that.
The real world type? That would be me.

Save billions? We give that away in foreign aid EVERY YEAR!

RE: "NHS could get WORSE from 2013"
Paul,

The issue is that we have been using the wrong method for so long that changes will impact everyone in some way. For example those whio have been paying for x years have nothing to claim from for their 'investment' Such is the way with all socialist projects.

You also have to consider that with the removal of the NHS there will be considerable tax savings. The insurance costs should come down and it will become affordable. It is so expensive now because they get you in quickly. No 3 mionth waits between visits. It will be more like a vets. A single visit, scans, X-rays etc and perhaps a diagnosis. Even if not a specialist will be contacted in a few days. Compare that with the current situation.

Finally, it isn't like you get a full service now. A bunch of pen pushers decides what you get and what you don't. The modern doctor expects you to diagniose yourself. Since my old doctore left his replacment keeps asking what do you want to do next. At first I though there was no issue before I realised he didn't know he was genuinely asking my opinion. My car mechanic doesn't do that. I want a doctor to give me options and recommendations not ask for my advice.

Finally, the only way you get free NHS service is is someone else pays for it but doesn't get it themselves. A situation we don't want to reciprocate when we are the only ones with food after a collapse.
