No Go Areas in UK NOW
I told you the collapse was happening now, slowly steadily like a flippin cancer, not something spectactular like a war or pandemic.

Get out now if you can.

Well, I can honestly say that none if us will have seen this coming. We are obviously alllll stunned, I mean who could have predicted it?

Oh, just about everyone.

Some no go areas are Asian muslim, other no go areas are black gangs, other no go areas are violent white chav clusters, other no go areas are various druggie territory, other no go areas are where the rich and influential have secured and gated off for themselves, other no go areas are dominated by the migrant eastern european workers are settling. The areas with the highest police presence are the areas where those same cops live in clusters. Now look at the sensible or lucky parts of our community around Exeter, Mid Wales, North Yorks, Western Scotland and note how though painfully slowly the preppers are drifting into clusters.

Visited your fair city many a time over the years, I'm afraid it does not meet my own specific needs, primarily being where most of London will try and move west through after TSHTF, Were Swansea and Cardiff will move east through after TSHTF and were Birmingham will try and move south through.Smile

I spent 12 long difficult and often very frustrating years working out where the averages work out best for moi Smile

I know I repost my orginal article on where I live incase someone else wants to use a similar assessmenty to help them choose where best to be. normally what workds for one person often is wrong for the next. I'll post it below.

Why I live where I live
© 2010 Northern Raider

I have had some rather heated debates on where should survivalists in the UK live and/or where should they bug out to while encouraging the public to move into the socialist paradises of the South East and Midlands.

I have heard all the arguments about the west country, Wales and Scotland (which do have their own merits) many times so I thought it would just be much simpler to list why I chose to live where I do.

Firstly I live in north east England, I live in England and I am English so I won’t face the fairly high risk (post collapse) of racism and hatred if I lived in Wales, Eire or Scotland (parts of Scotland is on record as having a serious anti English racist problem even now).
I live in the north east because it is a long way from London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester, it is even 40 miles from Newcastle.

Post collapse it is believed that the mass migrations of deperate city dwellers will move as follows (yes it’s a generalisation)

London = South west. Up to 7 million people heading towards the West Country and south Wales, those areas cannot even provide enough drinking water, fuel or energy for its resident population BEFORE the tourists go. So what will it be like with millions of dispossessed people heading there?

Birmingham = West, South and North. The huge population of Birmingham is likely to head for North Wales, the Lakes (if they can get passed Liverpool, Manchester etc) or the Wilts, Glostershire area, again contributing to the numbers coming out of London.

Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester = are likely to head for the Derbyshire Peaks (adding to Derby's problems) the Pennines and the dales/moors (very barren, few natural resources, crap weather)

Newcastle = Northumberland and the high Pennines possibly Scotland.

Teesside= North Yorks moors, it is where they always go whenever the toxic or other alarms go off.

My area, I live roughly 40 miles south of Newcastle, I am 15 miles from the North Sea this give me access to Salt, Sea food and Sea Coal
In this area there are millions of tons of easily accessible coal deposits from open cast mining operations.

We have two coastal oil refineries AND two fuel storage facilities containing billions of gallons of various fuels
We have at least ten modern large wind farms and a coastal nuclear power station with a second on its way.

We even have some very recently refurbished steam locomotives and diesel railcars, and a steam / diesel loco repair facility. We have even very recently built a complete brand new steam locomotive.

We have huge amounts of pure clean water unlike most of the SE and SW most of it does not need Chlorination and much of it is gravity fed from the Pennines and Kielder reservoir (the biggest manmade fresh water lake in Europe)

We have thousands of hectares of woodland, moorland and farmland with huge amounts of game and feral animals.
We have a declining population and the cheapest housing in the country.
Also with the end of the old heavy industries 25 years ago most of the environment is now flourishing like it has not done for over 200 years.

We have a healthy amount of rainfall but we are not deluged like the Lake District on the western side of the Pennines

In my village we are 390 feet above sea level and definitely not prone to flooding, but we do have an easy accessible hilltop less than a mile away that is another 150 foot higher in case of a big super tsunami.
Most of the other villages in this immediate area are also sited on hilltops.
We have bug out routes in all points of the compass, many of which follow the thousands of miles of abandoned railway track beds, giving out flat gentle routes out of the area.

We have reasonable access to three large rivers for transportation and even have a well maintained, modern airstrip and hangers only two miles away

We have loads of old quarries that are popular with shooting clubs and there is even a clay pigeon club less than a mile away
We have a huge cluster of allotments that could easily provide enough food for the community and it is topped by the local councils wanting to make the villages into ECO villages with as much locally produced energy and food as possible.

We have very low crime and this county has NO fixed speed cameras, you can actually drive from coast to coast without seeing a traffic light or speed camera if necessary.

You can buy older houses from £50,000 to brand new 4 bed detached for £145,000 in country villages, recently (June09) I saw new houses on offer in SW Co Durham starting at £82,000.

We have plentiful fish both marine and freshwater, four or five types of Deer (Muntjacs are considered a pest around here), Wild boar, Pheasant, Partridge, Rabbits by the billions, Hare, Squirrel, Pigeon and even a few oddities such as Kangaroos, Bison, Alpacas as well as goats, and a few escaped Pot-bellied pigs.

For energy as mentioned about loads of open cast mines, sea coal, peat bogs, woodland, biomass plantations, coniferous and deciduous woodland etc, we have iron ore, lead ore and many other common minerals

Yes it could be warmer, yes you only get 2.3 Meg broadband connections, no we dont have a fancy commuter system, but it is easy to be safe and self-reliant and thankfully we are a long way from the south east.
