I would never trust nuclear power as a long term energy source, for a number of years I had a military manual in my possession specificaly covering the effects of various yealds of a lot of the nuclear weaponry available during the 70's and 80's including predicted areas of destruction and contamination, effects of the different forms of radiation and the possible effects on the general population. I would far rather be without power than have a nuclear waste land.

Ironically it is worth reading up about Stephan Salter the father of wave power and how the funding for his project was pulled by the government of the time in favour of nuclear power.
