Does anyone know if there are better antennas that will fit the Baofeng uv-r5?

I mean cheap in a figurative manner. without spending hundreds on HF gear etc.

Plus you can buy it all separately, so it's not £120 in one go.

Yeah baby! String is invincible!!!!!!! Until it breaks. It's pretty easy to tap as well. Just add another bit of string with a yogurt pot on, and you're in.

Also, it's easy to cut the line......literally.

It's not the most mobile system either. Even a 4meter ariel/antenna/coat-hanger-thing is more mobile and subtle. But that's all besides the point!!!

............................................Yep,
The UV5rs can be had from £30.00
The antenna supplied with the radio is adequate and is tuned for the entire transmit capability of the radio, so just using this is the safest way to go........................................................

In that case I might just leave it as it is for now,... with the option of trying another at a later date,... thanks

As far as I am aware, yes, they do come pre-tuned. I think you can get a swr meter for a few quid off the same seller, just to check.
