Depends where you live. L'derry may as well be Mars to me; it's a strange, alien place where the locals are terrifying. The village I live in wins awards for its floral displays and among the residents are a vicar's wife from Hampshire, an old guy from Bristol (going by accent), a bald fat guy from London, my neighbour (ex RAF) with strong Cornish accent, plus the village librarian is English as are many others I bump into. I also know a guy from Yorkshire who had a leg blown off in a bomb whilst in the army here yet he still lives in NI and is now a preacher, if I recall correctly. So the hatred comes from only one community but if you are in an "orange" area like mine, you're accepted with open arms.
