None of the news report suggest it was shot down.

The pilots contacted ATC confirming a problem with the plane and to be diverted for an emergency landing at the nearest airport, before it crashed.

So sounds like catastrophic mechanical failure.

However if it was bought down then it does ratchet the politicals
up a notch which could well be prepper related.

maybe, but I don't think the bombing is helping much, in the end it may come down to "boots on the ground" to defeat ISIS, whether those boots are Russian, Amerian or some kind of NATO combined force.
