Most essential EDC item

Some years ago I asked the question above and almost (bout 85%) of respondents replied KNIFE (UK) GUN (US), but someone did one recently on another forum and I was amazed by the change, whilst knives and guns still dominated we saw that I PHONES ( and similar devices) and MULTI TOOLS featured heavily.

So I wondered what is the most essential part of your EDC kit

NO Harveys Bristol Cream does not count

my berky is the one thing I'd pick up and take with me if I were allowed one item, note sure it counts as a mechanical item so I marked it as other.

If you are talking about EDC and what is actually used on a day to day basis, then its a pocket multi-tool and torch.
