Was helping a mate sort out his old army gear today and we found a Ration Pack unopened since the late 80s, most of it was to far gone, but the tin of Processed cheese (known throughout the forces as Cheese Possessed) was still OK !!!! we both had a small chunk to eat and though rather mature it was still palatable unlike the Damson jam which had to be humanely destroyed after we opened it and it tried to climb out on its own like THE BLOB. The tube of Rolos was fossilised.

I had a similar experience with tinned Bega cheese which was bought during the ramp-up to Y2K. Used it to make Mac & Cheese with some imitation bacon bits, dried onion flakes, pilot biscuit and tinned evaporated milk of the same era and it was all right tasty.

There is a market for aged cheese. You could be sitting on a goldmine ?
It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here
