Improvised defence weapon, a sock filled with stones as a sap.
During winter operations change socks daily, rotate between THREE pairs, one on the feet, one "washed" by kneading and rubbing in snow, tied together with one of your spare boot laces and tied to hang outside your ruck to freeze and be beaten to shake out frozen dirt with the ice at rest stops until "clean, but cold and stuff," the third pair tied together with your OTHER spare boot, lace draped around the back of the neck and in front of your shoulder between your base layer and wool shirt, under your anorak, being warmed and dried by body heat, so that you have warm, dry socks to put on to sleep after you warm and massage our feet, safely inside your tent or snow cave. You then "snow wash" the socks you took off and hang them outside overnight to freeze, to rotate the cycle one more increment and carry on with your feet in good condition., 73 de KE4SKY In "Almost Heaven" West Virginia USA
