Ha, you caught me out! Thinking as a pest controler I immediately thought rat, they're always close go if not in compost bins. Being so close to water as you are, maybe an idea to keep a bit of rodent bait in there as a safety measure.
Love the idea though, would like to do it here but water level wouldn't allow.
