Ichthammol ointment also called Black Drawing Salve has always been in our first aid essentials, used for drawing splinters, minor infections from cuts, stings etc, finally our large tub is almost empty. It’s lasted years.
Tried local pharmacies to no avail, thankfully it’s available on the web, i’ve ordered some from Poland, you can also get it from the States. It will be in every FAK.

It’s the best we’ve come across for minor infections, very safe, for humans as well as animals. Local hospital used to use it a lot , i don’t know if they still do. Can anyone in the NHS confirm it’s use ?.
I don’t have hooves but i did use some to pull a sliver of glass from my foot some time ago.
By the way does anyone know how long an anti-tetanus jab lasts, my last one was well over twenty years ago ?.

Living in a rural area I get one on a schedule just because I do so much outdoor work and I am in the workshop constantly. It is taken sort of like a vaccination for the inevitable.

Most people do not have a valid anti-tetanus jab and this is why when you go to hospital for anything that needs one they tend to just give you one.
I would guess that over 90% of the UK population does not have a valid anti-tetanus jab. We only get one when we visit hospital for something that looks like it needs one.
Must be worse for the rest of the world.
